SANDY POINT SKATEPARK
The intent for the obstacles is to flow and lead to each other, to be both a linear and circular skatepark. This is in line with the surf culture of the site. The park is suitable for all users from beginners and people having a first try, to experienced and veteran users. It is a beginner to intermediate park in nature with the highest obstacles being 900mm high. The rail and manual pad are suitable for all skill levels and are essential obstacles for every park. Bank to bank and A frame “hubba” and rail are perfect for a smaller park with a single level. Bank to bank, curved hip and multi directional mogul feature can be used to access the hips at speed. These features are suitable as a beginner obstacle for less experienced users.
The addition of a curb on the top of the bank is a popular contemporary obstacle that is suitable for beginners as well as advanced users. The tighter quarter pipe into this feature is a unique element that acts as a bank to bank channel and as an entry or exit point to the curb. The tight radius platform curved quarter pipe is a return obstacle and suitable for entry and exit lines to the rest of the park. 900mm banks are perfect for all skill levels. 900mm transitions are perfect for beginner to intermediate users and a roll in assists with building confidence to drop in. These transitions continue to a hipped pocket for multiple lines and progression of tricks. The simple functional obstacles are from the design intent of being suitable for beginner to advanced skatepark users.
Wooden balustrades soften the outlook of the park and provides protection from falling. A modernised seating and BBQ allow for community engagement and passive supervision.
