ABOUT

ABOUT

I have skateboarded most days since 1988 and it has shaped a significant part of my identity. It has taken me on some epic adventures and introduced me to diverse and inspiring people. My past industry experience within skateboarding has been varied and extensive. I have worked in skate shops, ran coaching and events, designed clothes and shaped boards, written magazine articles and had my photographs published – both in front and behind the lens.

For the past decade I have worked in the automotive industry within sales and finance, consistently as a high achiever. It was never my real passion however, and I’ve dedicated many hours to pushing as hard as I could for better outcomes for skateparks as a consultant, volunteering for years for The Victorian Skateboard Association, with a focus on bringing skateboarding into schools and fostering the grass roots side. One of my biggest joys is hearing people say that I helped them in some way when they were beginning their skateboarding journey.

Following my experience assisting with the Brunswick Skatepark consultations I decided it was finally time to take my involvement to the next level, and undertook my Architecture degree. I always prefer a proactive approach and believed I could have a positive impact and deliver better outcomes. I see this journey as the beginning of what will be my legacy. Since completing my degree I have worked in a freelance capacity doing some exciting design in a diverse range of projects, and with Playce as an employee for various skatepark related consultation and design work.

Another key area of interest for me is a focus around innovative and sustainable design, particularly outdoor spaces, skate parks and housing, and I’ve found that similar to my photography journey, it opens you up to viewing the world differently.

My other passions are cooking, motor sport, mountain biking, snowboarding, travel and camping.
